Recipe: Homemade Rice-a-Roni


Like Rice-a-Roni but want more bang for your buck? Here's a great recipe for a homemade version.

HOMEMADE RICE-A-RONI

1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup orzo
1/2 cup rice
2 cups hot tap water
2 chicken bouillon cubes

Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat. Add orzo and let it get brown. (While browning, allow bouillon cubes to begin dissolving in the hot water.) Add water/bouillon mixture to the orzo. Add rice. Stir well, reduce heat, and cover. Boil covered until all water is absorbed, probably about 10-15 minutes.
